SQL Server DBA - Halifax - Circa £45,000

I'm currently looking for a SQL DBA to join my Halifax based client.

This is a great opportunity for a SQL Server DBA who is looking for a new role in 2016.

Using the most up-to date technologies, this is a great opportunity for an established SQL DBA to take the next step, with continued training in the newest technologies constantly offered on offer, along with an established team of DBA's.

The day to day responsibilities:

- SQL Database administration/Design
- Support /administer all production SQL Server databases (MSCS)
- Strong understanding of DTS, Triggers, Stored procedures, views and replication etc.
- Strong understanding of SQL replication (articles ,publications ,subscriptions)
- T-SQL scripting
- T-SQL performance tuning
- Responsible for database security, security hardening
- Database Design
- Reporting Services
- SSIS development and support
- Analysis Services
- Assist the Development /Business Intelligence Teams with database analysis and expertise.
- Monitor capacity, integrity and performance of production database(s).
- Monitor and tune database(s) for maximum performance
- Performance and tuning at the database level and have an understanding of application level issues
- Database reorganisations
- Coordinate software and schema releases/updates
- Ensure new and existing database code is efficient - provide guidance/feedback to the Development Team/BIS Team where necessary.
- Database troubleshooting
- Identify, investigate and rectify issues within the environment
- Provide monthly performance and growth statistics
- Provide monthly downtime statistics
- Provide clear and concise documentation
- Document and educate other teams on policies, technologies, best practices, and other areas pertaining to the database systems
- Patching and application changes
- Plan, manage application of hot fixes, service packs and other necessary server configuration changes pertaining to the database systems
- Responsible for database security
- Backup and Recovery (perform regular backup & recovery testing)
- Failover (perform regular failover testing)
- Document Backup & Recovery procedures
- Document Failover procedures
- Experience with general Microsoft HA including NLB and Clustering

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge off IIS applications
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics
Knowledge of Quest Backup & Monitoring tools
Upstanding of Firewalls
Microsoft SharePoint
Terminal Server environments
Large Database support > 500 GB

This is a perfect role for a DBA who wants to work within an agile environment and keep up-to date with the newest technologies and receive training, with Microsoft certifications a minimum within the team, the courses and materials are being paid for by the employer if the successful candidate is not currently certified.
