The ICT Solution Architect partners with business, functional & technical analysts and domain specific architects (Enterprise, Process, Application, Infrastructure, Data/Information & Security) to define the technical requirements, principles and models that generally guide all solution decisions for the ecosystem.
He is responsible for analysing and translating business, information and technical requirements into architectural solution designs which integrate solutions across applications, systems, platforms and services to achieve business objectives.
The ICT Solution Architect look across existing local & global ICT strategies & architectural roadmaps, services, applications and infrastructure to develop and implement local solution roadmaps that outline how solutions will be structured, implemented & integrated in the future.
Responsibilities:
* Understand and interpret requirements:
The ICT Solution Architect probes for information, listens to information, influences people, facilitates consensus building, synthesizes and translates ideas into actionable requirements, articulates those ideas to others.
Identifies use or purpose, constraints, risks, etc. based on business, functional and technical analysis.
Participates in the discovery and documentation of the internal (& occasional external) customer's business scenarios that are driving the solution.
The ICT Solutions Architect is responsible for requirements understanding and embodies those requirements understanding in the architecture specifications of the solutions' design.
* Create a useful models & architecture solution designs:
The ICT Solution Architect takes the requirements and develops well formulated models of the components of the solution, augmenting the models as necessary to fit all of the circumstances & context.
Shows multiple views through models to communicate the ideas effectively on different business and technical levels to get related projects buy-in.
The ICT Solutions Architect is responsible for the overall architecture integrity and maintaining the vision of the solution offerings from an architectural perspective.
He/she ensures leverage opportunities are identified (including those on a Global & European level) and incorporated, using building blocks, and is a liaison between the functional groups (especially development, infrastructure & security) to ensure that the leverage opportunities are realized.
The ICT Solution Architect provides and maintains these models as a framework for understanding the domain(s) of development work, guiding what should be done within or outside the local organization. The architect must represent the organization view of the architecture by understanding all the necessary business components.
He assesses the potential impact of a new solution on service, operational level agreements & underpinning 3rd party contract.
* Validate , refine , and expand the model:
The ICT Solution Architect verifies assumptions, brings in subject matter experts, etc. in order to improve the model and to further define it, adding as necessary new ideas to make the result more flexible and more tightly linked to current and expected requirements. He ensures solutions are balanced between functional requirements (cost-usability) and risks.
Stays informed about local and global company ICT standards, available solutions as well as external market evolutions.
Additionally the ICT Solutions Architect assesses the value of solution-enhancing developments emanating from technical analysis & ongoing experience gained and incorporate these into the architecture models as appropriate.
* Manage the solution architecture design:
The ICT Solutions Architect continuously monitors the models and updates them as necessary to show changes, additions, and alterations.
Represent architecture and issues during development and decision points of the program. The architect is an ''agent of change'', representing that need for the implementation of the architecture. As part of this he provides technical advice and guidelines to both operational, engineering, development and project teams.
* Project & budget management:
Defines the budget needed to build or enhance solutions.
Manages his own projects:
•follow up and control the budget
•plan and follow up on resources, coordinate project tasks

•manage the agreed scope & deliverables
•report project progress to management

•The ability to perform functional on-the-job coaching of direct colleagues
•Has and maintains an in depth understanding of all ICT domains and their key dependencies.
•Has an understanding & experience with architecture modelling techniques and frameworks like IAF, TOGAF, SABSA…
•Maintain up to date knowledge of best practices in ITSM, security and control processes (COBIT, ITIL, ISO2700x)
•Expert Microsoft Windows platform & architectures knowledge
•In depth Identity & Access Management discipline expertise & experience
Personal skills:
Master's degree in informatics or equivalent through experience
8 to 10 years of relevant experience
Practical knowledge of English (both spoken & written) is mandatory, complemented with French or Dutch as his/her native language
A broad architecture domain knowledge (vision, design, projects, implementation)
Ability to keep a holistic overview but at the same time can take a deep dive into technicalities when required.
