I am currently recruiting for the role of Mechanical Design Verification Engineer. To work as a contractor for a key medical device client of ours based in Leeds. A overview of the position is outlined below.

Role: Mechanical Design Verification Engineer.

Industry: Medical Device.

Location: Leeds.

Rate: Negotioable.

Duration: 12 Months

Accountability's

* Review Designer outputs with the remit to ensure that engineering designs are safe, effective and appropriately verified. Scope includes internal and externally generated models and drawings verifying mechanical integrity, including weld specifications and ensuring that data conforms to company standards and worldwide Regulatory requirements.

* Ensure design/drawing outputs are in accordance with ISO/ASME and company standards including the use and understanding of 'Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

* Verify that any tolerance stack ups and dimensional justifications are accurate and appropriate and recorded fully within the DVW (Design Verification Workbook) or similar DVE (Design Verification) tolerance analyses.

* Verify 'simple' hand calculations have been accurately completed and appropriately referenced back to specific engineering text.

* Complete design verification deliverables and ensure design related ECO's (Enterprise Change Orders) are implemented accurately and to agreed timescales to support Base Business and NPD (New Product Development) projects.

* Optimise the use of the company CAD/CAE systems to ensure that models are produced with a common standard structure and with maximum model flexibility.

* Operate refined time keeping, work planning and estimating disciplines

* Participate in the systematic review of function and value analysis

* Assume responsibility for own design commitments delivering to agreed timescales in line with project plans.

* Verify that data required for the design section of the development history files (DHF) has been correctly generated.

* Participate in Design FMEAs as a fully trained member of the team.

* Contribute to the development of departmental systems, procedures and specifications.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Possess an extensive mechanical design engineering background; unlikely to have a completely office based career history and meeting the following criteria:

* Understand fundamental manufacturing processes used for machine parts.

* Understand the effect material choice has on product life, including fatigue and creep.

* Understand the influence batch to batch variation has on the avoidance of failure due to sensitive design parameters. Possess a minimum HNC/HND plus 5 years experience or Degree plus 3 years experience.
