IT Application Analyst
Description
The candidate will be responsible for gathering and analysing the business requirements for the global reporting function and for preparing specifications for the software developers, in order to deliver new reports and application functionality.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison with the business community in all aspects of report, data feed and application development. Document clear, concise business requirements specifications.
- Produce functional or technical specifications and any other design documents required to ensure that the software developers clearly understand the functionality to be delivered.
- Data Analysis to source quality, reliable, timely client reporting data for inclusion in the client reporting data warehouse.
- Unit test each software item before it is handed over for QA or User Acceptance Testing, to ensure that the functionality and reports have been developed to specification, and are in a stable state for user testing.
- Monitor and support the testing, sign-off and implementation of software releases.
- Manage the change control and release process for developments.
- Ensure that procedures and user guides are prepared to support new developments, in line with documentation standards.
- Daily application support, investigating and resolving problems, assisting users, and providing application administration.
Experience and Qualifications
- Third-level qualification in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or equivalent
- Excellent working knowledge of SQL Analyser/Management Studio
- Previous experience as a BA in a report development team or data warehousing project is desirable
- Experience in working with offshore developers and QA would also be an advantage
- Experience in working in an environment where data is sourced from external Third Party Administrators or other IT outsource partners is also advantageous.
- Good background in all aspects of the software development cycle.
