Description

Computer Futures are currently working with a key client seeking an Infrastructure Operations Manager for their Redditch based office.

Responsibilities:
* Hands-on responsibility for infrastructure management (both external and internal) and connectivity, maintenance, scalability, and continued optimisation for speed
* Plan, coordinate and design all operational activities including resource management, managing expectations with stakeholders, and driving tactical operational projects through to completion
* Work closely with development teams to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions to ensure operational stability and improved delivery of our digital products and platforms
* Manage external vendors including hosting/datacentre, CDN, Cloud Solutions, and telecom partners
* Support new iterative web and digital application deployments, scheduling and supporting system upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting issues
* Define, review and document infrastructure overview and platform security requirements
* Coordinate platform infrastructure changes
* Coordinate change control process for multiple products and related production releases
* Set and document operational standards and drive adoption across development and support teams
* Work with development team in capacity planning by defining meaningful performance metrics for product testing, scaling, and sizing
* Accurately estimate operational maintenance changes/windows
* Technical leader within the organization and provide mentoring to other operational and support personnel
* Define and own application source control, change management and release process
* SSL registration and renewal
* Oversee site performance and uptime monitoring
* Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota
Qualifications:
Candidates will be required to command excellent communication skills, work well within an agile team structure, have a proven ability to learn new skills and have experience working with agile processes.
You will have strong background in running operations for large scale high-availability websites and back-office systems.
Essential skill requirements for this role include:
* Experience in working with consumer facing technologies and companies with multiple locations, ideally in publishing/media, retail, web, social or similar
* Excellent technical knowledge of networking foundations, operating systems, server hardware, internet protocols (IPv4, IPv6, DNS, S/FTP, HTTP, etc.), ITIL standards and security best practices, Routers/Firewalls (Cisco/Sonicwall/HP), Active Directory, Virtualisation
* Strong technical experience in a broad set of web technologies
* Proven & demonstrate experience architecting, designing and implementing web-scale, high volume, high availability systems
* Expertise in Varnish (Reverse Proxy Server)
* Expertise as SQL Server DBA
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable skills include
* Experience with load and stress testing (ideally JMeter)
* Experience with PCI security compliance
* Background in eCommerce applications
* Experience with Continuous Integration and deployments
