SQL Server/DBA - 3 month contract - London (Tower Bridge)Working with a global law firm who are undergoing a major uplift in their IT Infrastructure, the primary objective of this role is to ensure stability of the existing database environments through the change, as well as advising on and implementing new database designs and upgrades.
The SQL Server/DBA will be responsible for reviewing all existing databases for best practice configuration and recommend any mitigation required. Ensuring monitoring is adequate to proactively identify and rectify any performance degradation. Working with the Technical Architect to specify and plan upgrade strategies and to ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), test backups and restores to ensure they can meet the business' Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends. Install and configure new SQL Servers etc
You should have On-call troubleshooting experience with production SQL Servers, experience of MS SQL Server from 2005 to 2014 versions, Database migrations between versions / version upgrades, Good knowledge of iManage WorkSite Document Management System, be an expert in T-SQL and tuning queries to improve performance, Previous law firm experience is not essential, but would be advantageous and a working knowledge of SharePoint 2010 and 2013 would be very helpful
