Description

The Ruby web developer will be expected to work as part of the Methods Analytics team. With several web based products in the market place already. The successful contractor will be responsible for maintaining and further developing these products to help the client on there path to become one of the leading business intelligence providers.

Traditionally they have outsourced web development and they are now wishing to build internal capability. The successful contractor will play a part in shaping and building this exciting new part of the business.

You will be helping to introduce new, emerging technologies across the organisation. As well as adopt development skills, you will be involved in key business decisions, so an astute business understanding is also desired.

The role will be based in Sheffield. However there is a flexible working policy in place for the successful candidate. Although some occasional travel to London may also be required.

The Ruby on Rails Developer responsibilities will include hands-on development - Back End, Front End, Server Side, client-side, testing scripts and all other aspects of web development. The candidate will collaborate on System design and architecture; working with the development team to figure out how to deliver requirements.

Working under the Head of Development as part of a dedicated team, The Ruby on Rails Developer will be coding predominantly in Ruby, most of which is on Rails - so you should know Rails pretty much inside-out, but experience with ASP.net is also essential. Whilst any other languages and frameworks would be a big plus.

Skill set required:

Minimum of 2 Years experience using Ruby on Rails

Proven track record and experience with Ruby

ASP.Net experience

A strong understanding of website development

Experience working in an Agile team

Experience of working in a Scrum environment

Knowledge of the secure Web Coding practices (e.g OWASP)
