Communications Manager - 6 months - Warwick - Negotiable Daily Rate

A leading Energy and Utilities client of Pontoon is looking for a Communications Manager to join their Centre of Excellence in Warwick.

Job Purpose:-

Work in partnership with the SO business and wider Corporate Affairs team to develop and implement integrated (internal and external) communications strategies to support the SO business.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide guidance on communications and stakeholder engagement to the SO team, working with the Corporate Affairs SO Business Partner to ensure that the SO business has the support required from Corporate Affairs
  • Develop and embed process improvements identified through CA - SO Strategy work package. Share best practice with rest of Corporate Affairs BP team
  • Lead Corporate Affairs support for suite of 'future of energy' SO publications (including Winter and Summer Outlooks, FES, ETYS, GTYS, SOF). Accountable for developing the overarching integrated communications plan and coordinating the execution of communications activity across the Corporate Affairs centres of excellence (including Public Affairs, media and channels). Develop SO and UK employee communications plan in conjunction with SO Internal Communications team. Lead conduit between Corporate Affairs and business contacts; advising on content and Tone of Voice from external perspective
  • Support in development and implementation of outcome focused communications and stakeholder engagement plans for priority reputational issues/policy areas - eg conflicts of interest, security of supply, transmission charging, storage, future of gas [issues tbc]. Includes development of communications materials.
  • Support crisis communications exercises for SO issues including development of scenarios and facilitating small workshops
  • Measurement and reporting of progress on reputational priorities to SO governance meetings

Knowledge & Experience required:

  • Strong external mindset, able to deal with the complexity of the energy sector and understand the competitive landscape; evaluate the impact of policy and regulation and proactively identify and grasp the communications opportunities.
  • Experience of developing and delivering integrated communications strategies and plans across complex networks of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Ability to lead and deliver communications activities across a Matrix/networked organization through influencing others at all levels.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing stakeholder engagement and communications processes.
