ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION The Art Canada Institute (ACI) publishes six online art books annually, in English and French, on key topics in Canadian art history. The ACI is a not-for-profit research organization based out of Massey College at the University of Toronto. Our mandate is to promote the study of an inclusive, multi-vocal Canadian art history to a broad audience. For more information please visit us at www.aci-iac.ca.

JOB DESCRIPTION Reporting to the Founding Executive Director and the Senior Web Manager, the Front-end Developer will design and code a new homepage for the ACI. The new homepage should be easily operable through a CMS that will be managed and populated with daily content by members of the ACI’s Web Team. The Front-end Developer will work with the ACI on contract for the duration of the project and will continue to act as a long-term partner to maintain and improve the website. The ideal candidate will have strong design skills, expert coding abilities, and an interest in working with not-for-profits.

QUALIFICATIONS • 3-5 years of direct client experience • Expert knowledge of PHP and MySQL • Experience working with proprietary codes • Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript • Ability to work, expand, and improve upon design while staying true to the company brand • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Suite • Dedication to long-term clients and site maintenance • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • High-level of responsiveness and task prioritization • Experience working with graphic designers, editors, and publishers is an asset • Knowledge and love of Canadian art history is an asset

The successful candidate’s scope of work will include: • Developing, designing, and coding a new homepage and corporate website • Working with the ACI’s current brand to design new display features • Creating a dynamic homepage that features video, audio, articles, and images • Ensuring that all the content from the ACI’s current program the Canadian Online Art Book Project is accessible through the new homepage • Updating the current proprietary CMS for the new homepage or providing a new CMS for the homepage and corporate website that leaves the old CMS still operable for the Canadian Online Art Book Project
