Job Description
The job of the functional analyst is to design the ergonomics and the functionalities of an application. To do that, he/she must help the Business to define needs, analyse and formalize them, and then suggest the most appropriate solutions. He/she is then involved in implementation, specifically supervising configuration and functional and business acceptance tests. His/her duties include support and training activities.
Primary activities:
- Problem Statements, Refine Needs, Constrains, Boundaries
- Analyze Business users' needs and business requirements. Assume responsibility for analysing one or more functional processes. Draw up the functional specifications for a Business change request
- Identify, Prioritize Use Case Architecturally Significant
- Use Cases Modelling and specification (detail), including Storyboard
- Refine features/needs in Use Cases Elicitation & Description
- Define the general and detailed functional specifications
- Suggest or participate in definition of solutions (including examining choices between configurations, configuration and custom developments)
- Configure and/or supervise the configuration of a Business software package
- Define and implement functional tests in collaboration with the test team using standard test tools.
- Coach a team of developers regarding functional aspects. Impact Requirement Change, Refine IS Architecture
- Define the screen layout and the sequences based on the chart of the client
- Assistance to the business during user acceptance tests
- Support the business for change management
- May mentor other analysts (From Advanced level)
- Help define look & feel principles
Secondary activities:
- Design and lead training for users
- Implement communication media

- Blueprint Analysis and Architecture documents (PMG) or Functional Requirements, Operational Requirements (PMP) - Functional analysis specification included interface specification, Software Requirements Document, Use Case Model, Risk List, Prioritization Plan, Data Migration plan, Storyboard, Description of screen layout and sequences
