WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Outdoor Industry Association is looking for a strong, freelance web developer to help make our digital presence awesome. We launched a new content-driven website on Wordpress in 2015 and have many enhancements ahead of us. We are a very active digital marketing team and need a go-to person to help us whip up engaging pages, crank out edits, develop or install new functionality, and keep our site in good health. You'll receive clear direction from our internal project managers, external designers, and digital agency. The ideal candidate is a clear communicator, deadline-driven, and is comfortable telling us (nicely) when a request is a terrible idea.
The position is remote, on-going freelance with projects and requests delivered weekly. If the candidate is local, occasional in-person meetings or office hours are a major bonus for the team – not required.

REQUIREMENTS
- Expert with WordPress
- Expert knowledge of standards-compliant HTML5 & CSS2/3, JavaScript (esp. jQuery) and Responsive (RWD) techniques and methods
- Conscious of site performance — during the initial request and on-page — and wants to reduce HTTP requests, browser repaints, and deliver lightning fast sites to any and all browsers
- Is vigilant about web standards, accessibility and usability.
- Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
- Ability to provide technical insight to designers
- Ability to implement every fine detail of designs delivered by visual designers (working collaboratively)
- Ability to execute on our SEO/SEM strategy and integrate SEO best practices into development
- Knowledge of and desire to use modern web standards
- Ability to create cross-browser code
- Familiarity with a server side language, such as PHP
- Ability to focus on creating awesome, properly built & tested WordPress websites with little need for supervision
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years development experience
- Strong portfolio of active Wordpress and development projects
- Great references
- Dedicated and meticulous while taking great pride in delivering the highest quality work.
- Possess excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to provide reliable estimates for development deliverables.
- Capabilities for occasional video conferencing
