Even better, we’re recruiting!

The primary role of a developer is to code, test and modify new and existing systems - this may include websites, CMS systems, web applications, intranets and API’s. The duties and responsibilities below should be viewed as a guide, the technical studio encourages the contribution of fresh ideas so this is a fantastic opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills.

Main responsibilities

  • Meeting with project managers and account managers to discuss requirements.
  • Thinking through requirements and deciding on the best and most intelligent approach.
  • Implementing new functionality using the chosen approach. Writing code to a high standard which adheres to best practices and the coding standards adopted in the technical studio.
  • Commit code to version control, using git and the approach adopted by the technical studio – creating feature branches, making regular verbose commits, squashing commits and creating pull requests for other team members to approve.
  • Review and approve other team members pull requests, offering honest help and advice when required.
  • Communicating progress to the project managers and account managers, being clear and honest about any delays or potential issues with delivery.
  • Administer and work on web servers, both development and live, taking care to ensure service is not interrupted.
  • Attend meetings as required, both internal and client facing.
  • Offering help, with a willingness to chip and help the technical studio meet deadlines.
  • Contributing the overall performance of the technical studio, suggesting and implementing new ideas, processes or approaches to work.
  • Assist with support and maintenance work for existing clients when required.

Desirable Technical Skills

  • Experience with Laravel would be almost essential; it is our framework of choice for most new projects!
  • You will be experienced with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript/JQuery. If you know AngularJS, VueJS, ReactJS or other javascript frameworks that would be handy and the more you know about Web Services and API’s the better!
