Media Asset Management - MAM - VOD - Video On Demand

Contract opportunity available for a seasoned Solution Architect/Designer with proven experience working with MAM systems and VOD Solution design in a leading Media/Broadcast organisation.

This role will be reporting to the Solutions Delivery Manager within my clients UK Engineering team. The Key focus is solutions and project delivery within the UK, however some travel and work at other hubs may be required. The Solutions Architect role is customer facing and has involvement in the whole project life cycle from initial client request through high level design and proposal, into detailed design and implementation. This role is the main point of technical authority in project delivery, working closely with Project Management, Operations and Account Management, as well as with relevant Practices internally.

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Scope, define and design solution offerings; driving end-to-end technical solutions
  • Architect for strategic, reusable where possible, and supportable solutions
  • Analyze customer technology, define business requirements and participate in risk analysis
  • Work with core team on list of potential activities and solutions
  • Develop technical presentations and proposals, and perform customer presentations
  • Lead deployment of solution
  • Liaise with external and internal system integrators, all vendors involved in project, internal project resources, subject matter experts and all stakeholders
  • Participate in knowledge transfer, documentation and information sharing
  • Stay abreast of on new technology/technical areas and share information about solution to enable competence build

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in Broadcast Engineering, of at least five years, particularly in respect of MAM systems, automated workflow design, VOD solution design including DRM, Post Production and linear playout systems
  • Experience from technical roles focusing on integration is a required experience for this role, eg experience from work as integration engineer
  • Experience in design and delivery of service-oriented architectures and understanding of software development processes such as Agile;
  • Demonstrable experience in the elicitation & specification of architectural and non-functional requirements
  • Good familiarity with the disciplines of enterprise software development such as configuration & release management, source code & version controls, and operational considerations such as monitoring and reporting
  • Track record of successful project delivery, ideally in a Technical Leader role

Preferred Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in VOD solution design including transcoding, DRM, packaging, CDN delivery and asset life cycle management
  • Experience with Tedial MAM systems, Telestream transcoding and Elemental streaming products
  • Experience with Avid and Adobe post Production solutions
  • Experience with SAM Morpheus and ICE, and/or Pebble Beach linear playout systems
  • Experience of working with application development teams and methodologies
  • Scripting/coding experience and competence working with Windows and Linux systems

Additional Requirements, Physical Demands, Region/Local Specifications:

  • Role is UK office based in London with travel to client sites as required, and home working where appropriate.
  • Occasional and infrequent overseas travel to other hubs may be required.
  • Ability to work within a team spread across different locations
