Solution Architect - Microsoft, .net, West/North Yorkshire

Job Purpose:

  • Reporting to the Architecture Manager, be responsible for solution architecture, high-level design, initial prototyping and where required, low level design, and overall technical ownership of end-to-end development projects from proposition to realisation.
  • Contributing to the delivery of large and/or complex projects either developed internally or with an external development partner
  • Assist other IT functions in identifying new and improved ways of working
  • Consider wider impact of decisions, use technical knowledge and experience to assess possible outcomes and their likelihood, and challenge decisions appropriately to ensure consideration and processes are robust.

Accountability:

  • Contribute to the production of Investment Business Cases for projects
  • Identify and select appropriate software and tools
  • Maintain AS-IS architectural documentation
  • Produce architectural prototypes as required to validate proposed architecture
  • Provide IT consultancy, architectural leadership and support to the project delivery teams
  • Communicate the architectural strategy through appropriate forums
  • Hold workshops/meetings to resolve potential areas of conflict/overlap
  • Keep abreast of developments and changes within the IT industry
  • Communicate at all levels both internally and externally

Skills & Experience:

  • Full software development life cycle experience particularly in the Microsoft technology stack
  • Knowledge of UML modelling and major IT patterns
  • Knowledge of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect
  • Strong Solution design and analysis experience
  • Act as technical mentor to other IT staff.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of infrastructure, incorporating network, Servers, Enterprise Storage, Backup, Cloud/Hybrid/On premise operation, Operating Systems etc
  • It would be advantageous (but not essential) to have knowledge of Trading systems (Aligne), Fuel Management systems (enTrader) or ERP (Maximo)
