Description
We're looking for an absolutely master Rails developer with at least 5 years of real-world experience creating real-world web apps used by real people.As our new developer, you'll be working on making our product better for our beloved customers.
We have a very strong foundation to build on: A great product, with minimal technical debt, wonderful customers who love to co-create the product with us, and who are doing important work in the world that we get the opportunity to support and serve. Also, we're bootstrapped, profitable and proud, and growing at a steady clip. And our founder, Calvin, created the third ever production Rails app back in 2005!
You'll be working with Mandi on supporting our customers when she needs help with something that requires a look in the code or the logs, and you'll be working with Calvin on designing and developing new features, streamlining existing ones, and optimizing our text-file-based setup.
We're looking for someone who gets off on solving problems effectively, meaning you don't settle on the first and best understanding of what the problem is before you jump to solutions. You keep looking at the problem from different angles until a simple solution appears. You simplify the complex.
You love to finish things. Calvin is great at starting, and he'll do the finishing, but really, the ideal candidate is someone who loves to take Calvin's lead and take those projects to the finish line: Deployed, and in use by our customers, without causing major disruption. And of course, take full responsibilities for projects as well.
You love to figure things out that you've never had to figure out before. You love to grow personally and professionally. You like using your own judgment and figuring out what needs to be done, given the vision and the values. You get things quickly.
Must be a US citizen or green card holder. No exceptions. We're based in New York City, but we do not have an office, so you can work from wherever you are.
