Finance Technician/Analyst - Surrey - 6 months - £150 -£200 per day

Duties:

Reporting to Team Manager you will be assisting in the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial information for use in the production of statutory financial accounts and other regulatory returns.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to start or continue their finance career by gaining experience in ledger accounting and is keen to pursue an accountancy qualification.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone keen to develop their knowledge and skills. You will work alongside a diverse team that is currently challenging existing processes and instigating new work practices.

Job rotation within FRO will be encouraged.

Process product ledger accounting data, including posting to the accounting system and other relevant accounting applications, as part of statutory financial and regulatory reporting period end close. Complete relevant financial reconciliations on a timely basis, including working with Analysts to investigate and clear outstanding items. Contribute to the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial accounts and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.

Identify and communicate issues and errors to the Analysts within the team.

Maintain procedure notes.

Maintain a basic knowledge of the systems which impact upon the financial information produced for and by the department.

Identify and suggest improvements to processes

Required Skills:

  • Intermediate or Advanced Microsoft Excel is essential
  • Knowledge of Life and Pensions products is desirable.
  • Experience in the preparation of reconciliations and financial analyses is desirable.
  • Must be capable of understanding and applying applicable accounting standards
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work accurately to tight deadlines. This may include working longer hours during critical periods.
  • Will be able to start or continue studying towards a professional accounting qualification - study support provided. If not already part qualified, a relevant degree or equivalent is required. Exam dates must be agreed in advance to ensure adequate staff cover at exam time.
