We are looking for a contract Business Analyst who has a specific background within the banking/
financial services industry. Consulting backgrounds are highly preferred. Must be well versed with information technology projects.
Position Responsibilities:
Apply consultative approach to assist with functional planning and design, and operational procedural planning and design when implementing new systems and/or product enhancements
Document detailed technical and functional business rules and requirements for assigned business areas
Create data mapping documentation, process flows and detailed test cases and scripts for assigned projects
Ensure adherence to published project management methodology, resulting in consistent development and implementation of project components
Understand, listen and comprehend first before starting to a solution
Interact with business and technology representatives at all levels within the organization
Cross team collaboration to ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in relevant field (eg Business, MIS) preferred
Banking/Financial Services experience strongly preferred
4+ years of business analyst experience required
Standard industry certification (CBAP, PMI-BA) preferred
Consulting background preferred
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the Information Technology field required
Detail-oriented with a proven history as a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills with ability to present to all levels of the organization
Ability to be influential and establish positive working relationships across the organization
Able to concurrently lead BA efforts across multiple types of projects
Business analysis capabilities across the following project types: Business Process Reengineering, Strategy Transformation, Vendor Integration, SDLC (waterfall and Agile) projects
Conduct requirement gathering sessions leveraging core business analysis best practices and methodologies, including work flow analysis and process analysis
Effectively interact and lead meetings with all levels of participants, including technical resources, business stakeholders and C-level executives
Document detailed process flows, gap analysis and cost benefit analysis
Outstanding organizational and effective time management skills
Obtain, analyze and synthesize information from multiple business users to help distinguish request from needs
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking skills and results oriented
Experience leading business analysis for projects of varying size and complexity
Manage solution scope and requirements, requirements traceability, and communication of validated requirements for projects
Write concise and effective User Stories
Define precise and accurate User Story acceptance criteria that will be used by developers, QA testers and business users to insure that business intent is effectively captured
Strong proficiency in the use of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Project and MS Visio for reports, analysis, and presentations required
Familiarity with requirements gathering tools and using TFS or similar software for requirements traceability with development and QA teams
Depth of understanding in most if not all areas of business analysis competencies and deliverables
Work product and results are fully acceptable, and achieved routinely
Confident decision-making skills to deal with complex situations holistically
Ability to see overall picture and how individual actions fit within it
Ability to rely on experience and intuition instead of rules
