Do you want to help build a great-looking brand for a socially-driven company? The Department of Better Technology is looking for a freelance marketing designer who is self-motivated and passionate about design.
This is a mid-level freelance position that may lead to part-time employment as we grow.
About us
We're a startup that helps governments deliver great digital services to the citizens that depend on them. Our main product, Screendoor, helps customers streamline the processes behind their online forms. Our customers range from small non-profits to large federal agencies.
We are a fully remote company, so you can live anywhere! Many of us happen to be in the San Francisco Bay Area at the moment, but we do not have a central office.
Responsibilities- Work with our lead designer to craft the best-looking brand in GovTech
- Lay out business cards, proposals, large-format banners, and other marketing and sales collateral
- Communicate with printers to place orders and evaluate proofs
- You have a experience in designing for the printed page, and know how to work with printers and evaluate proofs
- You demonstrate a basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- You can demonstrate taste in design, typography, layout and color
- You're able to follow creative direction and work within existing design patterns
- You're comfortable collaborating with colleagues, and share work early and often
- You can easily communicate and explain the design decisions underpinning your work
- You have a basic understanding of spelling and grammar (copywriting experience is a bonus)
