The client, a leading British Defence and Aerospace company is looking for a Strategic Buyer on a initial 6 month contract based In Derby.
As a Strategic Buyer for their make to print commodity, you will interact with a wide range of suppliers, from top aerospace giants to small specialists. As a Strategic Buyer the role will have the opportunity to secure best value for the company through maximising leverage during the NPI phase and locking it down via various contracts with the supply chain. Furthermore the role will also have the chance to help shape the strategy for their commodity and help steer the direction of the supply chain for many years to come.
Core Duties
Leading sourcing project on own or support the Manager in larger projects
Negotiate or support Manager in negotiating with various suppliers on both pricing and contractual terms
Undertake Financial analysis using Total Life Cycle Cost Model
Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and contract purchasing team to ensure the deal is balanced and represent the best deal possible from all aspects
Support Manager in formulating bid workbook for future engine programmes
Required Skills
Previous experience in a buying/purchasing role
Must have SAP sourcing experience
Comfortable with Excels and numbers
Good communication skills
