Description

A Renewable Energy client is looking for a Consultant working as an Offshore Substation Fabrication Inspector for their offshore wind farm project. This role is anticipated to be for approx. 19 months, starting around 1st September 2016 up until the end of March 2018 with the possibility of extending further thereafter. This is a full time role, 5 days a week, 8hrs in average, the individual should expect occasional weekend and night work.
Responsibilities:
  • To comply with the clients guidelines, standards and requirements, as well as local requirements
  • To liaise with the Fabrication Manager on all quality matters and agree on inspection scope
  • Ensure (inspect) that the structural fabrication and mechanical systems (piping, crane, passive fire walls) is made in accordance with the clients requirements to include specifications and standard in regards to:
  • Fabrication of jacket and topside
  • Sea fastening
  • Offshore welding of topside module to the jacket structure
  • Support the Fabrication Manager in monitoring the progress of contractor and their sub-contractor steel works and surface treatment according to programme and milestone
  • To identify issues for certifying body inspections
  • Identify interfaces, risk and report those to the Fabrication Manager
  • Contribute actively to evaluation of the project and capture lessons learnt throughout the project
  • Take part in kick off meetings when required
  • Final inspection of steel work before surface treatment/preparation including check of position, dim of profiles and tolerances
  • Check coating, coating facilities, inspection during coating process, paint reports and cathodic protection

Qualifications:

5 years practical as well as theoretical experience within offshore and/or steel construction or familiar with steel fabrication and inspection, NDT and coating such as: IWI/IWS international welding inspector/Specialist, IWT/IWE International Welding Technician/Welding Engineer and Frosio light

  • 5 years practical as well as theoretical experience within offshore and/or steel construction or familiar with steel fabrication and inspection, NDT and coating such as: IWI/IWS international welding inspector/Specialist, IWT/IWE International Welding Technician/Welding Engineer and Frosio light
  • Must be technically strong, adaptable
  • Must have good communication skills written and verbal

Special Provision:

The Consultant must bring his/her own PC with MS Office 2007 software or newer and mobile telephone.
