Description

We are looking to hire a passionate and accomplished front-end engineer who has demonstrable experience of working within a fast moving project environment on large public-facing digital services, within a multi-disciplinary team.

We prize collaborative ego-free people, who are able to show us that they’ve made both reasoned and intuitive decisions in previous jobs, are pragmatic, and have a strong team work ethic.

This is a 4-week contract position in our Clerkenwell office. No remote applications will be considered. No agencies.

You will

  • Write high quality responsive code, using HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Participate in specification workshops, story estimation, and release planning
  • Work closely with our in-house QA team to ensure cross-browser quality
  • Present feature demonstrations to client and internal teams

    Skills you need to have

  • Modular, responsive CSS (ideally working with pattern libraries)
  • Object-oriented Javascript using jQuery and Lodash
  • Git, feature branching and pull requests
  • Experience implementing features on a wide range of browsers and devices
  • Experience delivering to tight deadlines
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills

    Bonus skills

  • Writing modular CSS using SMACSS and BEM principles
  • Highcharts and/or SVG graphing experience
  • Experience of agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban

    About Friday

Friday exists to make the most beautifully useful digital services in the world.

Engineers at Friday are committed and passionate technology enthusiasts. We focus on the heavy lifting of application architecture, data modelling, application logic, data services and REST APIs, both in the browser and on the server. Our Engineers have deep specialist skills in one or two parts of the stack (from prototyping and front-end, to backend, infrastructure and QA), however, we encourage a full-stack attitude: an understanding of the whole project lifecycle and an ability to navigate, communicate and practice at opposite ends of the stack.

We pride ourselves on our strong engineering practice; from open sourcing our own tools and practices, adopting collaborative and empowering methods such as TDD and Specification by Example, establishing a DevOps culture within all teams, embracing mobile-first responsive design by default and striving for a culture of continuous learning.
