Cognos Technical Lead
The Cognos Technical Lead provides leadership and coordination of all technical aspects of systems development activities required to provide a productive and efficient system that meets business requirements. While supporting a specific development effort, the technical lead is also expected to help the company develop strategic technical directions. This position is responsible for the management and delivery of the application and process portfolio to one line of business. This position drives the continued evolution, operation, and support of business processes and enabling applications to ensure effective and efficient achievement of business objectives. Scope of work includes the development and sustainment of a processes/systems integration strategy and plan, and project leadership on major processes/systems efforts (including the development of project scope and expectations, and the coordination of resources from multiple internal and external sources).
Function:
* Serve as Senior Cognos 8.4 and Cognos 10.1 (Cognos 10.2 is a strong advantage) Developer - analysis and design, coding, and debugging,
* Timely production defect resolution,
* Hire modeler/report resources,
* Design and develop Training data metadata models catalogs, transformer/Dynamic Cubes model and packages using transformer/Cognos Cube Designer and Framework Manager respectively,
* Develop High Level Designs, Low-level Designs, Test Cases and finally the code for every module involved in a project,
* Create new reports and enhance existing reports using Business Intelligence, Workspace Advanced and Report Studio,
* Deploy Cognos content from Development environment to Production environment - tasks to be automated in close collaboration with the Configuration Management team,
* Responsible for run time performance and tuning of the queries - tasks to be automated in close collaboration with the Configuration Management team,
* Provide Tier 3 support for other report developers with less proficiency. Write of Standard Operating Procedures,
* Support production deployments & production support for applications. Assist Configueration Management and IT operations support the Continuous Integration,
* Responsible for understanding and addressing customer and user requirements, their strategies, and their goals.
Profile:
* 8+ years of experience in information technology,
* 5+ years of experience in Data Warehouse solutions,
* 5+ years minimum of demonstrable experience in a technical leadership role,
* 5+ years of experience with Cognos 8.4,
* 2+ years of experience in Cognos 10.x,
* Experience in Cognos 10.2/Active Reports/Dynamics Cube,
* Experience with Oracle SQL (DML & DDL), PL/SQL, packages, stored procedures Expertise in reviewing business requirements, technical requirements documentation,
* Expertise in writing high and low level design documentation,
* Experience in writing re-usable unit test documents,
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,
* Experience leading technical teams,
* Familiarity with use of version control/source code management tools,
* Well organized, detail oriented, ability to multi-task,
* Experience with Agile Methodology,
* Excellent time-management, planning and prioritization,
* Comfortable working with all project stakeholders (business users, Architects, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Test Analysts, production support team),
* Travel industry experience is an asset.
