Description

We are supporting a Global Renewable Energy client in their search for a Consultant to work as an offshore Substation Fabrication Inspector, to have site representation at fabrication yard in relation to coordination and supervision of activities during fabrication. This is anticipated to be a 19 month assignment expected to start from 16th August 2016 up until approx. 21st March 2018 with the possibility of extending further thereafter. This is a 5 day working week, 8 hrs per day.
Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with Fabrication Manager on all quality matters and agree on inspection scope
  • To ensure and inspect that the structural fabrication and mechanical systems (piping, crane, passive fire walls) is made in accordance with the clients requirements
  • Fabrication of jacket and topside
  • Sea fastening
  • Offshore welding of topside module to the jacket structure
  • To support the Fabrication Manager in monitoring the Progress of Contractor and their sub-contractor steel works and surface treatment according to programme and milestone
  • To identify issues for certifying body inspections
  • To identify interface, risk and report those to the Fabrication Manager
  • Review contractor's procedures ITP, WPS, PQP, NDE and coating in order to follow up on contractor's workshop
  • Take part in kick-off meetings if relevant
  • Support Fabrication Manager
  • Spot check of contractor's material inspection
  • To verify welders certificates, prepare and use of WPS by performing spot checks
  • Verification of NDT operator's certification by spot check
  • Final inspection of steel work before surface treatment/preparation
  • Dimension checks of structure (check of position, dimension of profiles and tolerance
  • Spot check of coating, coating facilities, inspection during coating process, paint reports and cathodic protection
  • To support the clients HSE with general supervision of HSE on site, review contractors-as-built documentation

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience as well as theoretical experience within offshore and or steel construction or familiar with steel fabrication and inspection, NDT and coating such as: IWI/IWS International welding inspector/specialist, IWT/IWE International Welding Technician/Welding Engineer and Frosio light
  • Technically strong, adaptable, must be able to work well in a team, good communication skills, good written and verbal English
Special Provisions:
The Consultant must bring his/her own PC with MS Office 2007 software and mobile telephone
