Capability Definition

Applies Storage knowledge to solve complex business requirements and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Uses consulting skills including, but not limited to: interviewing clients to understand business needs, developing technical solutions, and working with multiple teams to accomplish project deliverables. Capable of consulting, designing, testing, implementing, managing capability requirements using HP methodology. Able to integrate custom storage components into the environment and provide third level production infrastructure support.

Responsibilities

Responsible for client/account interactions as required
Responsible for producing part or all of the technical solution for the account/client, in accordance with an agreed technical design
Responsible for ensuring that project deliverables are completed accurately and on time
Responsible for escalating issues, problems, risks, and constraints to the appropriate parties for clarification and resolution
Responsible for communication with the Chief/Lead Engineer and account/client
Responsible for the engineering of end to end storage solutions as required
Responsible for keeping abreast of new/emerging technology
Responsible for design, development, implementation using the Global Engineering specifications, methodology and the practical application of ITIL practices and processes
Responsible for documenting project requirements, risks, design, test plans, deployment procedures and operation/support procedures following Quality Management Process (QMS) standards.

Education and Experience Required
Expertise in HP Storage product line (3PAR, XP, EVA, StoreVirtual, StoreAll, StoreOnce )
Experience in EMC Storage (VMAX, VNX, Isilon, Celerra)
Storage Area Network Experience (Brocade, Cisco)
Storage performance and protection concepts
Fibre Channel Host BUS Adapter Experience
Storage Array Experience (Enterprise & Departmental. Block, file, object and unified concepts)
Minimum of 5+ years of experience engineering and supporting enterprise Storage solutions
- Storage Replication Experience
- Storage Area Network Experience (Brocade (HP-B Series), Cisco and or McData)
- Fibre Channel Host BUS Adapter Experience
- Storage Array Experience (Enterprise & Departmental)

Additional Education desired:

Knowledge of Software-Defined storage concepts
Knowledge of Converged/Cloud infrastructure methodologies
Business Continuity/DR experience
Familiar with enterprise storage reporting capabilities (HP Storage Essentials)
Understanding of Basic Disk Encryption Technologies
HP ATP an HP ASE Storage Certifications
3PAR Certification

Technical Skills

Demonstrates specialist level of understanding in both server hardware & server operating system deployment, configuration, testing & administration as they relate to the deployed storage solutions
Participate in the development of new storage solutions within the HP Storage product line (3PAR, XP, StoreVirtual, StoreOnce, StoreAll)
Interface with the SMC Operations team, Storage/BUR Engineering team, and Program Office to refine requirements, test applications/tools, support user acceptance testing (UAT), provide status updates and promote solutions into production.

Knowledge and Skills

Deep understanding of distributed storage and familiarity with several of the major enterprise levels of storage platforms
Advise, design, and architect advanced storage solutions
Advanced storage manipulations using advanced array features demonstrating an expert level of storage functionality and performance tuning of the array and the SAN network
Advanced configuration of storage related software
Ability to develop solutions that enhance the availability, performance, maintainability and agility of a particular customer's enterprise. Has contributed to the design and application of new tools. Ability to build upon existing experience to develop new solutions to take to market.
Strong commercial focus and understanding of the market
Lead a team of project assigned resources for Storage, taking ownership of this area in the assignment including appropriate investigation and discovery, both technical and personal with customer area, to develop and deliver the architectural solution
Test and engineer release of new technologies and versions of products/software
Provide estimates for advanced and major project delivery
Demonstrates broad knowledge in other technical areas in order to properly manage complex integration efforts. Demonstrates application of technical expertise in successful engagements involving multiple disciplines.
Ability to present within own area of expertise as part of a customer technical sales presentation, putting forward storage-specific information within the context of an HP sales campaign to present a unified end to end enterprise solution
Ability to work across multiple disciplines with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause
