Description

Our Renewable Energy Operator Client is looking for an Offshore Structures Engineer to support fundamental remedial repair works on offshore foundations on various offshore wind projects. This role is based at their headquarters in South West UK on an initial 6 months contract.

The role is for an Engineer able to lead the resolution of engineering risks and projects from identification through specification and design to the provision of technical support for remedial works that ensure the foundation monopiles are operated and maintained to the highest standards.

The suitable candidate will have a proven track record in offshore structural engineering, leading design and small offshore works contracts. Experience in fatigue assessment and offshore corrosion protection systems would be highly desirable.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Investigating and selecting design concepts for a range of remedial foundation solutions.
  • Management of the civil/structural design and detailed structural assessment
  • Providing technical input into procurement strategies and contract management
  • Management of consultant subcontractors
  • Preparation of specifications
  • Technical assessment of contractor's tenders
  • Technical audit of fabrication facilities
  • Technical supervision of contractors during design, fabrication and installation
  • Engineering quality assurance during manufacture and installation
  • On-site support for periods during offshore installation works.
  • Production of O&M manuals for any new installed remedial solutions
  • Interfacing with O&M managers to ensure disruption to generating assets is minimised.
  • Regular reporting to the lead engineer on progress in a concise and timely manner.
Skills:
  • University degree or comparable graduate education in civil or structural engineering
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, able to drive innovative and strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively within a multicultural team
  • Strong co-ordination and leadership skills, highly motivated, confident and resourceful
  • Detailed understanding of Health & safety aspects related to offshore design and Installation
Experience:
  • Proven end-to-end track record in design, fabrication and installation of major remedial works or secondary steel modifications to offshore structures within offshore wind, oil & gas or marine industries
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team on major projects
  • Corrosion protection would be ideal
  • Experience in managing consultancy contractor or small works contracts
  • Understanding of the principles of dynamic structural analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics in ferritic steel and offshore environments.
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication, and reinforced concrete construction
  • Familiarity with structural integrity management methods
  • Familiarity with offshore installation, marine operations and heavy lifting
