Senior Unix Systems Administrator - Red Hat Linux/Unix/Solaris - London
Square One are looking for a Senior Unix Systems Administrator to come on board for a 3 month rolling contract based in London paying excellent daily rates starting on 3rd October 2016.
We are looking for an extremely strong Unix Sys admin (Engineer calibre resource) to join on site at a tier 1 investment bank in London.
This will require the migration of ~20,000 Linux Red Hat Servers over three years.
The Unix Technical Team is made up of 4 onshore (London) and 8 offshore (India) resources and is responsible for the technical execution of all Unix migrations from server build and sign off to migration events technical preparation and technical execution.
We are looking for a Unix Technical Lead to run the team and help set future direction and strategy for Unix migration execution. This role is hands on and requires strong technical acumen, credible experience and would benefit from someone who is genuinely passionate about Linux and Unix administration.
Responsibilities will include:
Engaging with the Clients Unix Operations and Engineering to drive migrations process and tooling improvements
Being a figure head for the Unix Team to engage with the wider program management and stakeholders
Build and configuration of target Linux/Unix hosts
Creation and maintenance of migration run books
Building and maintenance of support tools/scripts for use by the migration team
Interaction with the change management process for Linux/Unix scope
Managing the cutover of application services during migration events
Troubleshooting of migration issues
Skills required
Red Hat Linux (4/5/6)
Solaris 8/10
VCS/VxVM
Strong Perl knowledge
Technical Team Management
Should have relevant experience, ideally in a capital markets/financial services environment - Typically 2 Saturdays per month with time off in lieu.
