ISource IT are currently working with a major UK company based in Leeds to recruit a Senior Application Engineer to take up an initial 6 month contract role. The successful applicant will help to embed a culture of DevOps into the delivery and operations teams to foster a high degree of cooperation, learning and coordination between these teams. The role is offering competitive market rates.

Key Tasks:

  • Champion the vision and purpose of the System Build team in projects and operations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with, an champion the views of, live operations teams, helping support operational and non-functional requirements into the companies delivery teams.
  • Work to enable and support teams rather than provide a service - creating a self-service model of deployment and operations rather than building a dependency.
  • Work with the rest of the department to continuously improve procedures and best practices, including the selection of tools to help with a DevOps approach.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior team members to help them achieve the necessary standards and improve.
  • Support the recruitment of System Build team members as required.

Key Skills and Knowledge Required:

Essential:

  • Commercial experience of working with teams involved in development, build and release activities.
  • Strong background in Software/Database Development, Build or Release engineering.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem ownership and resolution.
  • Collaborative approach to working with technical and non-technical teams across the business.
  • Willingness to learn and embrace industry developments and practices from both a Development and Operations background.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft .NET/T-SQL/Powershell
  • Knowledge of release management/orchestration tools (Go, Octopus, VS Release manager etc)
  • Good understanding of the software development life cycle and the challenges faced.

Preferred:

  • Education to degree level
