Description
ISource IT are currently working with a major UK company based in Leeds to recruit a Senior Application Engineer to take up an initial 6 month contract role. The successful applicant will help to embed a culture of DevOps into the delivery and operations teams to foster a high degree of cooperation, learning and coordination between these teams. The role is offering competitive market rates.
Key Tasks:
- Champion the vision and purpose of the System Build team in projects and operations.
- Maintain strong relationships with, an champion the views of, live operations teams, helping support operational and non-functional requirements into the companies delivery teams.
- Work to enable and support teams rather than provide a service - creating a self-service model of deployment and operations rather than building a dependency.
- Work with the rest of the department to continuously improve procedures and best practices, including the selection of tools to help with a DevOps approach.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior team members to help them achieve the necessary standards and improve.
- Support the recruitment of System Build team members as required.
Key Skills and Knowledge Required:
Essential:
- Commercial experience of working with teams involved in development, build and release activities.
- Strong background in Software/Database Development, Build or Release engineering.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem ownership and resolution.
- Collaborative approach to working with technical and non-technical teams across the business.
- Willingness to learn and embrace industry developments and practices from both a Development and Operations background.
- Knowledge of Microsoft .NET/T-SQL/Powershell
- Knowledge of release management/orchestration tools (Go, Octopus, VS Release manager etc)
- Good understanding of the software development life cycle and the challenges faced.
Preferred:
- Education to degree level
