Description
Central Employment are working with a leading print house in London who are looking to take on a PHP Developer on a 3 month contract to finish a business critical project. The ideal candidate will have good experience of a JavaScript MVC framework and be proficient in OOP PHP.
Role & Responsibilities
• Implement requirements for new functionality, content and changes to required sites or applications as required by the business
• Ensure pages/ functionality developed are/is unit tested before system testing
• Deliver changes as requested for both the BAU and project work streams, ensuring that only changes that have been approved/ signed-off by 'the business' are implemented
• Hand-write and test elegant cross-browser and backward compatible code, validation to W3C standards
• Ensure that project progress is communicated effectively; projects are delivered to schedule and ensure that only authorised changes are delivered
• Support on technical designs
• Participate in weekly "Think Friday" activities; hack days, presentations and workshops
Required
• Working experience or computer science/computing-related university degree
• Experience in Angular.js, or a similar JavaScript MVC framework
• OOP knowledge in PHP or of other static typing/class-based languages
• 2+ years MySQL 5.5+, PostgreSQL or other SQL-based database engines and database design
• Knowledge of the latest HTML, CSS, JavaScript standards
• Extensive understanding of version control using Git
• Unit testing in a test driven development (TDD) with code coverage testing
• Working knowledge of Linux - Good command line knowledge of Ubuntu very desirable
Desirable
• A solid understanding of SOLID
• REST API experience
• Amazon Web Services, e.g. EC2, S3, ELB, RDS, CloudFront etc.
• Used to working with dependency/package management tools such as Composer and Bower
• Understanding of Jenkins or other CI, automation scripting tools
• Experience in building clean, maintainable Microservice based systems
• Understand front-end performance issues like Asset delivery, caching and CDNs
• Have an interest in containerization and virtual environments (Docker/Vagrant)
