After more than a decade of continuous use and development, the bespoke MRP system is in need of modernisation.
Whilst an assessment of large-scale ERP solutions takes place in the longer term, we must adapt our existing system to be more future-proof and operate on a modern and stable platform to give an additional five to ten years of function. If this requires a conversion from the current build language (VBA) to another, there is also an opportunity to make refinements and improvements.
This briefing note shall outline the areas of business functionality currently administered within MRP, a description of the platforms used for both front- and Back End operations and any particular outputs from the system or links to other systems.
Summary of Objectives
Replace the archaic .adp Front End format and allow the client to move on from Access 2002/XP - essential
Modernise existing functionality from the MRP System and its associated offshoots - essential
Provide a solution which might be more portable across different types of device - essential
Bring data security up to a level which would withstand scrutiny from pharmaceutical industry regulators - desirable
Ensure the modernized system is equipped with an audit trail facility to log changes to sensitive data - desirable
