Senior Web Developer

My client, A market leader within the travel and leisure marketplace are looking for a Senior Web Developer to join their exciting team.

Requirement:

To build the Web Development team back up for the International Website Project.We are looking for someone to take on a Tech Lead role, to ensure peer code reviews take place, and that the quality of the code is to the highest standard at all times. The successful applicant will need to enjoy interacting with other areas of the business and be aware that a good percentage of their time, certainly for the first 6-9 months, will be spent working with the Marketing Team and the designers at the Digital Agency, so they should be someone who has experience in this role and not a pure coder.

The purpose of this role is to perform website requirements analysis, architectural design, and the development and maintenance of my clients international website (across UK, US and Scandinavia).

Role Overview:

As part of the digital transformation process, they have begun the design and are preparing for the building of the new International website during 2017.The Senior Web Developer will be responsible for leading and mentoring the Web Development team and working with the digital design agency as the project moves from the design to build stage in the New Year.This role will work with key stakeholders around the business, including Marketing, QA and Senior Management, to determine the right solution for the business.

While the IT team will have a mix of backend and frontend Web Developers, this role will be responsible for both the frontend and backend of the UK, US and Scandinavia website and once complete the International website.Responsibilities also include the database integration required for these websites and the development and maintenance, including website improvements and bug fixes.

The Senior Web Developer should have good working knowledge of software engineering principles and best practices, as well as the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC).It is essential that the role holder has the ability to take ownership of a project and can lead by example.The Senior Web Developer will be expected to conduct code reviews as well as mentor less experienced members of the team.

The first project will be the building of the International website, using a Test Driven Development approach, paying special consideration towards continuous deployment of future improvements and fixes, as well as integration with applications such as Salesforce through APIs.

Primary Responsibilities:

Development and maintenance of their websites and the development of quality software solutions that adhere to best practices and SOLID and DRY principles.

Work with Marketing, QA and other teams within the business to determine requirements.

Responsible for the development of all existing and future websites.

Review business requirements / functional specifications and create the appropriate solution design.

Create technical design documentation as appropriate.

Present solutions to a technical and non-technical audience.

Communicate effectively with all stakeholders on a regular basis.

Manage time efficiently and effectively.

Perform systems and impact analysis tasks as and when required.

Take a Test Driven Development (TDD) approach and work towards Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.

Assist the Software Development team and the IT Infrastructure Support staff to resolve application and data issues as and when required.

Required Skills:

Excellent knowledge and experience of the following:

Advanced website development

Front end technologies (JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS)

Extensive development experience in a Microsoft environment

Analysis and requirement gathering

Customer focused

Ability to take ownership of problems and see through to implementation of the solution

Exceptional time management, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills

Required Experience:

Visual Studio

C# and MVC (ideally MVC 4/5 - Razor)

ASP.NET Web API

Experience of integrating with third party applications

Experience of core JavaScript frameworks and libraries (e.g. AngularJS, Bootstrap, BackboneJS, Breeze, React, or Polymer).

Exposure to/Working knowledge of the Agile Methodology (e.g. Kanban, Scrum)

5+ years' experience in website development

5+ years' experience within a structured development environment

4+ years' experience in a senior development role

3+ years' experience working in an environment using a CMS

Desirable Experience:

Ideally knowledge and experience of working with the following:

Team City

Webtrends/Uptrends

SOA

SQL Server

EPiServer
