The role:
A tier 1 investment bank are overhauling all their internal/Customer facing propositions, with a view of developing new modern digital products and services.
We all know that banks use modern tech, pay well & have very challenging projects. The problem is most having lots of red tape, slow processes, politics & a terrible corporate environment. All these components normally gets in the way of all the good things, so you don't actually much done...
Problem soiled. There is an off-site digital studio with the entire product development team localized. Blockers have been removed in a maturing agile environment to create a developer friendly place where things get done quickly. Wear what you like, some flexible working & the brightest colleagues in industry. This really is an elite team.
As a Front End developer - JavaScript developer you will be working on modern tools, platforms and products from the ground up ( greenfield )
First the team are building an SDK (react component oriented architecture) which will be rolled out cross the entire company. This will be targeted at multiple platforms, so includes react native components.
The react team will split with half to extend the kit and the others to start the pipeline of projects - EG: Trading dashboard, analytics tool, website overhaul, asset management trading platform, fund management platform.
There is a 3 year change/transformation program. You will join a very large UI heavy team, split in to smaller scrum teams. Mostly react UI engineers (react), Java developers, QA, UX, VD, & scrum masters.
React experience not required, but barrier to entry is very high. Your low level JavaScript knowledge will be challenges as well as your UI skills. The barrier to entry is high.
Everyone on the project is a seasoned engineer with valuable knowledge/lessons learnt, which has helped create this high performing, collaborative and flat environment. There are no Juniors/less experienced people making mistakes that take time to fix.
