Description
Endeavour is urgently recruiting for a Web Semantics Consultant to join a large European institution based in Ireland. Long term contract.
Duties:
- Design, implementation, and maintenance of database layer of multi-tears applications.
- Data analysis, data modelling.
- Development and maintenance of database stored procedures.
- Database configuration and optimisation.
- Database integration with applications.
- Execution of database test programs.
- Definition and integration of database components.
- Physical database design.
- Writing technical documentation.
- Assistance with deployment and configuration of the Database.
- Participation in meetings with project teams.
Knowledge and skills:
- In-depth knowledge of relational database systems.
- In depth knowledge of SQL.
- Good knowledge of modelling database tools.
- Good knowledge of stored procedure languages (eg PL/SQL).
- Good knowledge of application development environments.
- Knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tier web applications.
- Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments.
- Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication.
- The capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self-starting capability, and experience in working in teams.
Development Languages skills:
- Strong knowledge in Java programming (object-oriented core, Maven, J2EE, Spring)
- SQL and NoSQL databases
- XML, XSLT
- JavaScript (Angular JS, JQuery)
- Web services SOAP/REST (APIs) and technologies (eg HTTP, certs, cookies, headers,
- asset loading)
- ETL (appreciation and understanding of relational databases, ETL principles, and data
- quality)
- Experience with planning and executing the processing of a variety of data sources in batch and in Real Time
- Experience using JIRA, Subversion, or equivalent and experience working in an Agile environment.
Desired skills:
- Big Data platforms and frameworks (eg architecture, principles, troubleshooting, debugging, application development)
- Big Data technologies or tools (eg semantic web, URIs, RDFa, RDF/XML, MapReduce, CouchD, MongoDB, Redis, OpenRDF Sesame, triple store, Blazegraph,
- N3, Turtle, JSON-LD, 4store, owlim, NodeJS)
- Familiar with Scripting languages (eg Python, Perl, etc.)
- Experience with linked open data and transforming data from a database to RDF, storing data in a triple store, staging data for SPARQL queries, SKOS
