Proteus Europe is searching for a Senior Gameplay Engineer for our client based in London, UK

Note: It is a fixed term role

Our Client :-

Our client is responsible for the distribution, marketing and sales of gaming consoles and software and hardware in 109 territories across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania. Our client also develops, publishes, markets and distributes entertainment software for these formats, and manages the third party licensing programs for the formats in these territories. They are a world wide recognised brand name and dominate the console market.

Your New role :-

Based in Central London, the SIE RandD department researches and develops technologies to enhance gameplay platforms, support our development

We're currently looking for a senior engineer to join the RandD department to work on cutting-edge Virtual Reality experiences.

The role will entail prototyping and developing across all aspects of the project, so the ideal candidate for the job will be a generalist with a solid engineering background in C/C++, preferably with console experience and a familiarity with Unreal Engine 4.

This role will be as part of a small, highly focused team so the successful applicant will need good collaboration skills as well as being highly self-motivated with an ability to show initiative and creative thinking.

The successful applicant will aid in the design and development of the project's associated deliverables.

Responsibilities:

Rapid investigation, prototyping and implementation of new systems and features, along with any required testing

Collaborating with the technical lead and members of other disciplines to create high-quality deliverables

Keeping implementation on target to meet tight schedules

Providing innovative solutions to technical problems they may encounter during the project

Working closely with other technology teams within the RandD department

Your Skills and experience :-

Strong technical background in Computer Science, educated to degree level or higher, or with equivalent experience
Expert knowledge of programming in C/C++ with strong systems architecture skills
Shipped at least 2 successful games or similar products in a senior programming role
Experience of version control systems: e.g. Perforce, svn, Git etc.
Willingness to work in a small team in a proactive way
Quick and eager to learn new things
Excellent communication skills and an ability to listen to others' points of view

Advantageous skills:

Experience of console development
Experience of working with VR or similar VR systems, and knowledge of associated gameplay and performance considerations
Experience of working with UE4, preferably on console
Deep knowledge of some or all of the following: rendering, networking, physics, audio, UI/UX and AI programming
Experience of research and development
Ability to adapt quickly in an agile environment
