Description
Cloud Architect / DevOps Lead required for a global big data company in Manchester.This is a unique opportunity to transform the delivery of cutting edge customer science and machine learning research, and leverage some unique access to big data.
The role will involve the design and development of data technology, being the focal point for new technology architecture, and leading the way with open source tools in the Hadoop and Spark environment.
You may come either from an infrastructure of software development background and are likely to have a bachelor level degree in the sciences.
I'm look looking for people with good experience in the design, development, and testing of infrastructure as code / DevOps, including:
*DevOps tooling such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible
*The tools used to automate public cloud systems
*Cloud services including some of machines, networks, cloud storage, managed databases, container services
*Unix and / Windows shell scripting and administration
*Management of data platforms, e.g. Hadoop, SQL Server, etc.
*Networks
You must be able to demonstrate:
*Experience administering and managing relational and non-relational databases.
*Experience with software development languages and different language types, such as Python, Java, Scala, .NET, C, SQL, C++, golang.
*Experience in designing and developing infrastructure that supports distributed, elastic, service-based systems, such as actor-based systems, message queues (MSMQ, WSB, RabbitMQ, etc) and distributed computing platforms (Hadoop, Mesos).
You'll be part of a large project that is moving from their old proprietary systems to open source, creating the next generation data platform.
