Scala Engineer/Developer - Scala/MySQL/Akka - Contract - Central London
We are looking for a fantastic Developer with skills in particularly in Scala, MySQL and Akka Framework, to join and represent our organisation on a project that is coming to fruition. We have internally the capability to deliver the project but are keen to secure a new consultant to deliver this very specific work package given its length and commitment.
This is expected to be an 18-24-month assignment, paying around £600 per day, but flexibility on rate can be considered, based in Central London- the role is outside of the scope of IR35.
Some Central Government Dev experience would be ideal and very useful, though not essential, SC will be required, sponsored by the client if not already obtained.
The Developer will need to have:
- In-depth experience of Scala programming.
- In-depth knowledge of MySQL or Postgres
- In-depth Knowledge of Akka and Play frameworks
- In depth experience of working in an agile environment
- Experience of continual delivery and adhering to GDS best practices (if Government experience is present)
Desirable skills include:
- Experience of Government specific systems
- Experience of cloud architectures, microservice architecture and best practices
The Developer will represent our organisation, (a Leading UK technology and digital transformation organisation) and take on a maintenance and incremental change role initially over one service but this will also include the other services that fall under Service Optimisation team's responsibility (they are all delivered in an Agile manner to the cloud hosted platform.)
You will work with a mix of the domain stakeholders, Delivery Management, working in an agile multifunctional team.
The Developer will work on the following work packages:
- Acting as the lead developer for a specific service.
- Incremental development of the service to evolve the service to meet the Technical Design Authority approved technical stack, on a product road-map.
- Ensure the service applications meet best practice coding and structural designs.
