Description
Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52411
Duration: 6+ Months
- Understand, guide, and document the demonstration of safety for Train Control systems to both internal and external customers.
- The applicant will be responsible for compiling a portion/all components required for certification as defined by CFR 49 Part 236 Subpart I and Appendix C.
- As part of this process, hazard identification, detailed fault trees, occasional FMEAs and risk assessments will be required.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Understand architecture requirements for high integrity computing solutions
- Conduct Hazard Analysis
- Risk Assessment and mitigation
- Verification/validation of mitigation
- Develop system level failure and fall back documents for external customers
- Build fault trees that reflect the identified hazards an mitigating in an accurate manner
- Perform component level FMEAs as necessary
- Serve as mentor to team members on methodologies
- Guide development team toward product certification under CFR 49 Part 236 Subpart I and Appendix C
- Interface with external customers and regulatory agencies
Qualifications:
- BSEE/BSCS/BSCE and minimum 5 years system safety engineering experience
- An understanding of System Safety Engineering concepts (eg, ARP4761 and DO178B)
- Familiarity with CAFTA, FTAs, and FMEAs
- Railroad experience a plus
Travel:
10-20% travel requirement.
