Description

Data Engineer required to work with a government department. This is a 6 month contract, paying £550 per day, inside IR35, remote working until further notice (offices based in London)

You will be working within the Analytical Platform team, in close collaboration with analysts, data scientists developers, engineers and technical architects across the department. The main focus of this position will be to work alongside other digital professionals and data analysts to develop prototype management information dashboards

Examples of the things you may be working on are:
*Building robust and scalable automated data pipelines with GitHub, Docker, Spark, Airflow, and AWS cloud technologies
*Developing and improving tools, resources and processes that enable analysts and data scientists to make the best use of our data
*Collaborating with users to design and build derived data products that provide critical insight into important business questions
*Working with data scientists to help them productionise models and workflows within a modern microservices architecture
*Creating Python packages and deploying pipelines to test, predict and report on our data

Experience Required
We are looking for people with:
*programming experience in Python and SQL, though knowledge of R is also valuable.
*Experience of using Panda tools. Spark would also be valuable
*Experience of MI tools such as PowerBI or Tableau would also be beneficial
*experience of working with cloud computing environments, such as AWS, Azure and GCP
*an understanding of the principles of infrastructure as code, CI/CD and containerisation
*a track record of quality assurance and automated testing, including producing robust and reproducible analysis or code using version control software (preferably git and GitHub)
*evidence of translating complex, large or messy data sources into usable datasets to gain insight into a system or process
*evidence of supporting colleagues, whether one-to-one or in a group
