Description

Our Public Sector Government based client is looking to recruit a number of Software Developers/Software Engineers on initial 6 month contracts to assist with their next generation programmme.

As part of these roles you will focus on one of the below areas:

  • You will work on porting model output diagnostics, used by customers, into a new system designed to future-proof this element of the data workflow. You will implement the proposed diagnostic workflow package within their flagship supercomputer application and migrate key customer focussed diagnostics into the new package. Your involvement will include design, development, implement, test and document new developments.
  • Contribute toward the technical development and optimisation of a unified, next-generation observation processing (NG-OPS) system that will take full advantage of the next generation high performing computer. Contributions to the design and development of the JEDI code base could for example in include the extension of current class definitions to improve flexibility, usability, and data exchange mechanism between different components of the data processing pipeline.
  • The ideal candidates will experience Developers/Engineers and have experience in one of the following area

  • Python, Linux and version control (github) and ideally C, C++ and/or Fortran
  • Python
  • C++ ideally according to strict scientific and operational requirements and/or templated C++ code based and object-oriented design, algorithms and data structures
  • You will have experience writing high quality code and past experience of scientific software or systems would be highly desirable but not essential.

    Please note this role will be hybrid working so will require attendance on site in Exeter 2 days per week and 3 days remote from home.

    Preference will also be given to candidates who hold SC Security Clearance however those eligible to apply will be considered. You will need to obtain BPSS Clearance prior to starting which takes 2-4 weeks and also have submitted a SC Clearance Application.

    Day Rate: £492.73 per day INSIDE IR35 via a umbrella company.
