Business Analyst/Data Modeller (remote working)
Harris global are recruiting a Senior Data Analyst This role sits within the Data Services team that is part of Technology Change Management. The role encompasses the elicitation and communication of requirements for changes across IT systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for helping design and optimise how data is stored, consumed and maintained across the organisation's data platforms.
This role is strategically important and must form excellent working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across business lines.
The successful candidate's duties will include:
- Analysing and translating business needs into long-term solution data models.
- Evaluating existing data systems.
- Creating conceptual data models and data flows.
- Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency
- Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility.
- Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models.
- Updating and optimizing local and metadata models.
- Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems
An understanding of Operational Data Stores and Data Lakes Experience:
- 2+ years proven hands on experience as a data modeller working within an Agile development environment; familiarity with collaboration tools such as Confluence and Jira
- Hands on experience with Datamodelling (star, snowflake, etc schemas) and performance optimisation of data tables/schemas
- Experience using Datamodelling tools, such as Sparx EA and data catalogue tools
Skills:
- Strong SQL, ideally with some level of coding/Scripting skills such as Python etc.
- Ability to work on multiple projects whilst managing multiple deadlines and differing priorities
- Ability to use own initiative, with strong personal organisation skills to work to tight deadlines
