CONTEXT

The purpose of the Marketing BU is to sustainably maximise cash flows from the marketing of Anglo American products and services. In support of this, we have set ourselves an ambition to deliver a considerable uplift in in EBIT by 2023.

One of the critical enablers to our success will be to embed a new portfolio of digital and other innovative concepts and analytical tools. The Digital and Innovation Team is charged with identifying, designing and implementing solutions to enable commercial business units in mining supply chain and commodity trading desks by using novel technologies and business data to uplift their bottom-line results.

PURPOSE

Be a key member of the Digital and Innovation Technology team providing technical design and architecture for creating innovative products inline with Digital Strategy and evolve a scalable solution landscape.

Support the Digital & Innovation Leadership team on the development and implementation of the Digital and Innovation technology strategy with modern architecture and platforms

Leverage deep expertise in architecting and developing technology platforms to design and build the strategic solution landscape

Design and implement data-rich analytics solutions using latest tools and best practices delivering best possible customer experience.

Research and introduce advanced technologies, approaches, and best practices.

Lead brainstorming sessions for innovation and conceptualizing the ideas.

Enhance our digital strategy portfolio in support of the Front Office to increase market transparency and commercial drivers

Responsible for creating strategic plan of implementing architecture goals

Ensure the knowledge underpinning any new application is documented, managed and maintained

Work with the support team to identify, plan and execute service improvements to those systems that are developed

Comply with Anglo American Security and Operating Standards

Knowledge

Formal qualifications:

Required: MSc in Computer Science and/or Engineering + 15 years of experience

Role-specific knowledge:

Experience designing enterprise architecture resolving highly complex problems.

Experience designing and building complex enterprise ecosystems including external facing portals and business critical solutions

Experience designing digital data architecture with deep understanding of the technology concepts such as data lakes, streaming analytics.

Experience modernizing the architecture leveraging latest trends in the technology. This includes determining the right platforms and architecture with scalability consideration.

Knowledge: Physical Commodity trading domain knowledge of commodities covering trading, operations and risk management - especially Front Office trading model development

In depth understanding of the cloud infrastructure

Preferred: Passionate about UX/UI design.

Preferred: Experience working with large datasets.

Essential: Strong experience of business driven and test-driven development - Nunit, Moq, Jasmine/Karma

Essential: Proficiency working In Agile development environment

Essential: CI/CD Pipelines, Git

Strongly preferred: Exploratory data analysis and experience handling large data sets.

Preferred: Coding experience in Python
