Description
Contract Python Developer with Azure DevOps experience required for an urgent and long-term assignment with our global top-tier client. To work on the client's the hosted version of JupyterLab, including a series of internally built extensions for rapidly developing and deploying Python workflows. The first version of this open-source web application was developed in 2019, and since then, has continued to grow it's capability and user base, with two versions now available (one hosted on Azure, and one on the client's internal HPC (High Performance Computing centre). The DevOps squad supports the existing 100+ user base, as well as continuing to develop the platform on seeral different work fronts.
We are looking for an experienced Python software engineer to join the programs DevOps squad. The individual must be able to work closely with other squad members to provide on-going platform maintenance and support, as well as have a broad technical knowledge to progress the varied development backlog. They should be a self-starter, with interests in technology and problem-solving.
They should also have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a rapport with an internal team and 3rd party vendors across disciplines and geographies.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Alongside other squad members, carry out development and operational support of the platform
- Perform software upgrades to keep the tech stack current and integrate other applications into the platform
- Make and implement technical recommendations for new features
- Support the pipelines and automation scripts used to test and deploy changes
Essential Skills:
- 5+ years software development experience in Python
- Fully competent on Linux, good understanding of kernels, memory, processes and the file system
- Good experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Comfortable with git and bash
- Hands on experience with Azure Dev Ops including the creation of pipelines
Beneficial Skills:
- Experience using Jupyter, Azure and/or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Scrum Agile methodology
- Good unit testing background
Nice to Have:
- React + Typescript experience
