Junior C#/.NET Data Engineer
Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services requires a Junior C#/.NET Data Engineer with 1-2 years' experience based at their client's offices in London.
This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely and 2 days in the London Office.
This is a 6 month (minimum) temporary contract to start ASAP.
Day rate: Competitive market rate
We are looking for a Junior C#/.NET Data Engineer who has practical knowledge of .NET/C# and SQL Server and is able to demonstrate previous project(s) in professional or academic environment:
The fundamentals Market Analysis team has an opportunity for a Junior (1-2 years' experience) C#/.NET developer to help build and support the capture of market data used in key trading decisions.
The purpose of the Market Analysis team is to source market data which helps our traders gain competitive insight across power, gas, regulated carbon and weather markets.
Supported by senior team members, you will be working in a Front Office trading environment, dealing directly with analysts and traders, to identify new market data sources. You will then work to ensure data is capture in a timely manner and at required quality - in line with standards & patterns established by the lead developer.
This role is ideally for an early career professional to gain exposure and knowledge of the energy trading domain whilst working with a range of Azure components (Azure Functions, Message Bus, Machine Learning etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- Gain knowledge of external market data sources and their importance in the market analysis processes
- Co-ordinate closely with Analysts and Traders to identify and understand new market data sources
- Build out ingestion processes for new market data sources
- Work with the Senior Developer/Data Ingestion Lead to ensure work is in completed in line with team standards & patterns
- Implement proactive monitoring of data timeliness and quality
- Provide workarounds & bug fixes for urgent production issues and drive continuous improvement to existing data ingestion
- Ensure work is part of a coherent data landscape, contributing to the wider T&S data objectives and ambitions
Key Skills
Required-
- Strong academic record to degree level and mathematically literate (Maths, Science, Engineering, Compute Science, etc.)
- Practical knowledge of .NET/C# (able to demonstrate previous project(s) in professional or academic environment)
- Practical knowledge of SQL Server (able to demonstrate previous project(s) in professional or academic environment)
- Understanding of REST APIs and awareness of authentication models
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving demand driven trading environment
- Strong communication, people skills, able to balance diplomatic and pragmatic approaches with formal process
- Proactive learner, able to develop understanding of the domain and existing solution quickly with support and guidance from the lead developer
Desirable-
- Able to demonstrate interest/knowledge of energy markets and low carbon agenda
- Awareness of Azure or other Cloud based hosting
- Basic awareness of code management principles and CI/CD (Git, ADO/Jenkins/Github)
