Role Title: Release Manager (Financial Services)
Role Type: Contract
Day Rate: Up to £68.75 per hour inside IR35 PAYE
Initial Contract Duration: 12 months
Location: Glasgow (Hybrid - 1 day a month in office)
Opportunity Overview: We are currently supporting one of the leading global investment banking and financial services providers to recruit for a Release Manager. You will be responsible for the execution of the release process for several core systems within the Equity Swaps space. This includes the execution of the test cycle and the deployment to the production environment.
Key responsibilities
- The production deployment activities will require occasional weekend work (mainly Saturday mornings).
- You will be the face-off to the development team.
- You will need to manage the release candidate which is likely to include new features, bug fixes, patches, and similar requests.
- Where you and your team detect problems within a release candidate, it will be your responsibility to help identify the causing JIRA and work with the relevant development team to resolve.
- You will also need to work closely with developers on how a feature needs to be rolled out and of course, how it might be rolled-back if an issue is seen.
- You will be expected to make trivial improvement to the release and the deployment process as necessary. You and your team will also work closely with the Test Automation squad to define the improvement ideas and to deploy their solutions into the process.
The ideal candidate would have
- Strong experience of release management covering release co-ordination, planning and delivery in a complex environment
- Experience of working within Financial Services domain.
- Prior demonstrated experience on defining and then executing a system test suite.
- Strong Unix/Linux knowledge, with Shell Scripting (Perl or Python useful)
- RDBMS Sybase and/or DB2, with ability to write simple SQL queries.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
