ReadyMadeWeb is looking for a talented freelance WordPress designer.Joining our team as a designers means having a mixed site of skills. You should be able to create a design in Photoshop (or Pixelmator) and then turn that design into a functioning WordPress theme. That means knowing your way around a few WordPress framework themes, such as Genesis, and being a master at HTML and CSS. Knowing a bit of PHP is of course a big plus.
Our projects range from conventional blogs to sprawling web publishing platforms. So we need designs who can make simple things look beautiful and make complicated things look simple.
We are taking on new projects on a continuous basis, so we either have a project that needs your help right now or we'd like to see your work for one of our future projects that might be a good fit.
Requirements
Be Comfortable with Our Clients
Our company focuses on building WordPress sites for high-profile bloggers, think tanks, and political advocacy groups. You must be comfortable with political work of this kind. Our clients include nationally-known libertarian and right-of-center personalities and organizations. If that sort of politics makes you uncomfortable, this isn't the job for you.
Our clients are also overwhelmingly American, that means you must be a fluent English speaker to work on our team.
Be Available When We Need You
Team members must be available for at least four hours each day between the hours of 9am and 6pm Eastern Time. This is a non-negotiable requirement of being part of the ReadyMadeWeb team.
We are only looking for full-time freelancers. No moonlighters or part-timers please. If you've got a day job, you can't be part of the team.
Candidates must have outstanding communication habits. This means being responsive to email, IMs, and project updates. It also means knowing your deadlines and being able to prioritize your own workload.
But you're also part of a team at ReadyMadeWeb. So you'll be called on to talk to clients and even developers. Its a dirty job, but someone's got to do it.
Be Awesome at What You Do
Taking personal responsibility for what you produce is vital to having a happy career. This means paying attention to every detail. Get the margins, gutters, spacing, and fonts just right. Make your design consistent and clean, every time, on every device. Our designers must be obsessive about their work and strive to constantly learn about our industry.
