This is a long term Contract Opportunity located at Canary Warf, UK.

A leading global investment-banking giant is looking to secure the services of an experienced and seasoned Senior Business Analyst to join the Financial Regulation Programmer to ensure regulatory standards are met and adhered too.

Overall goal, Main responsibilities and key tasks

One of the objectives of the Financial Regulation programme is to ensure this investment bank complies with MiFID II requirements as specified in the legislation on a timely basis.

This is an exciting role for a Senior Business Analyst to guide the pre-trade aspects of the new trading landscape under MiFID II and the following aspects in particular:-

  • Systematic Internaliser (dynamic determination of SI status based on trading patterns)
  • Pre-Trade Transparency (making public firm quotes where this bank is an SI; amendments to current Equities transparency changes)
  • Market Making requirements (ensuring provision of liquidity within required periods)
  • Pre-Trade limit checking (such as Commodities Position Limit approach)

This is a perfect challenge for a Senior Business Analyst with a strong understanding of Order management, Order life cycle events and algorithms to build their profile with a wide range of stakeholders and influence the new trading landscape under MiFID II, transforming trading and transparency in EEA markets.

The successful candidate will join a, well-established and highly valued change management programme. The successful Business Analyst will gain exposure to multiple areas of the bank and will be well positioned to build a complete understanding of the front-to-back operations of a global investment bank. The candidate will be responsible for leading detailed analysis of the MIFID II rules, detailed impact assessment, preparation of business requirements, supporting definition of solutions and user testing execution.

The successful candidate must have very hands on, pragmatic, proactive and accountable approach to their workload, with strong Front Office relationship building and relationship management skills.

The Candidate will be responsible for Business Analysis of the Order Management and order life cycle event changes (what orders are submitted, when, how they are changed and tracked) under MiFID II regulations within the Regulatory Change Program.

This role requires experience across multiple asset classes (Rates, Credit, Equity, FX) and multiple trade capture systems for cash and derivatives (OTC & ETD) markets, on and off exchange.

Specific responsibilities include

  • Employing structured analysis techniques to ensure completeness, clarity and non-ambiguity of requirements
  • Managing requirements change and maintaining requirements traceability
  • Working with technical teams to validate proposed solutions
  • Run working groups across all stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of impacted parties, as well as the multiple cross-asset MiFID II project streams
  • Measure and communicate progress against agreed milestones
  • Manage the testing process and rollout including test preparation and execution.

Soft Skills/Training/experience

  • Candidate must be very hands on, pragmatic, proactive and accountable
  • Strong relationship building and relationship management skills in particular with Front Office, Compliance, Legal and Technology teams
  • Strong communications skills at all levels
  • Extremely strong organisational skills
  • Experience of dealing with senior management, including strong presentational skills
  • Strong understanding of trading practices and products within Fixed Income and/or Equities
  • Strong knowledge of investment banking processes - front to back
  • Requirements planning and management; Business Analysis qualifications preferred
  • Test Planning & Management
  • Experience in other Regulatory initiatives desirable
  • Solid knowledge of IT
  • At least five years experience in an investment bank or similar institution
  • At least three years experience in delivering analysis for major projects especially projects delivered in an investment bank or similar institution
  • Business analysis experience with a leading consulting firm within financial services or an International investment bank
