System Engineer "Monitoring Tools"

We are looking for a System Engineer "Monitoring Tools". The function is located in Brussels.

The role of the System Engineer Tools is a combined role with a mix of operational and project related activities. It will be de-facto a role that will be performed within a technical heterogeneous environment that combines different technologies and platforms. The responsibilities will be SME Monitoring Tools.

  • You will be responsible for the daily operation and the follow up of question in regards to the different products and applications that have been implemented within the monitoring domain.
  • The system engineer will perform pro-active and reactive actions to ensure that the application remains available and performs accordingly. This includes activities within the domains of DRP, monitoring, scheduling, security.
  • Part of the work will be the implementation of new functionalities or new components within the current setup.
  • Works closely with the different delivery Service Delivery and Technical Delivery teams. With these groups the person will work in a supplier oriented mode for a number of services (eg Reporting, Eventing) and in a client oriented mode with these same organizations (eg Unix support, WebSphere support)

    • Communication, analytical

    Practical knowledge of the underlying infrastructure layers: Windows, AIX, Linux, DB2, WebSphere, Windows, Oracle

    Good knowledge of the following tools: Windows Powershell, Unix Shell Scripting, SQL, XML

    Experience with IBM Monitoring & EventManagement products. More specific:

    IBM Tivoli Monitoring
    IBM Netcool
    IBM Bluecare
    Server Resource Management
    IBM System Director
    ESB Server

    Experience with BMC tools: Patrol, BEM is an important asset

    Experience with development tools and development languages is an asset: Java, C#, C, Eclipse, MS Visual Studio, GIT, Version Management tools

    Language: English. French or Dutch is an asset

    Depending on the criticality of the setup an on-duty role can be required
