Senior Linux Engineer/Designer
Duration: Initial 6 months
Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire
Security Clearance Level: DV or SC
EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria Recruitment Ltd (a Sopra Steria company) provides recruitment and resourcing solutions to Sopra Steria, a leading European IT service provider.
Sopra Steria requires a Senior Linux Engineer/Designer for an initial 6 month contract to support one of our defense Clients.
The Senior Linux Engineer/Designer will be responsible for:
- Undertaking the design and implementation of Linux solutions within a complex technical environment.
- Carrying out, as required, second/third line fault and problem resolution
- Providing advice and guidance on Linux administration and management
The Senior Linux Engineer/Designer Essentials Skills:
- Solution design and implementation - Ability to take client requirements and design and document a top to bottom solution
- Linux system design, installation and use - RedHat, Oracle, CentOS, Kickstart, RHCE qualified
- Linux database installation and use - MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL
- Good diagnostic and problem solving skills
- Application installation and use - such as: Apache, Tomcat, Samba/SSSD, JIVE, Secunia CSI, Wiki, JIRA
- Deployment of Provisioning and Configuration Management systems - Foreman, Katello, Puppet
- Linux and Active Directory integration
- Shell/Perl Scripting
- TCP/IP Networking
- Knowledge of Oracle Solaris system administration
The Senior Linux Engineer/Designer Desirable Skills:
- Sun Ray Server software installation/administration Use of VMware ESX/vCenter
- Oracle Secure Global Desktop
- Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition
- Oracle Waveset Identity Manager
- SAN/iSCSI storage
On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to a high level.
