Position Title: 63911- SAS, SQL Analytics Solution Consultant
Location: Pasadena, CA 91188
Work Type: W-2
Contract duration: 5 months+ (strong possibility of extension)
Position Description:
The SAS Data Consultant will serve as a key member of the Decision Support Health Plan Finance/Analytics team. The goal is to optimize existing code for the suite of SAS programs used to construct member-level profit and loss reports from various internal source systems. The focus will be on building efficiencies in processing time, resource time, and data validations.
Essential Functions:
- Partner with technical team member in the design, development and implementation of changes
- Perform quality checks on development code to ensure consistency with Legacy business rules
- Responsible for the creation of automated exception based reports that will (1) ensure data integrity and (2) build capacity by eliminating manual reviews of data outputs
- Understand a wide range of processes and business expertise including knowledge of healthcare issues, processes, applications, policies, and standards
- Other duties include: document technical specifications, update data dictionaries and desktop procedures.
Client is looking for a team player, who is professional, competent, and an experienced SAS/SQL programmer with proven history of optimizing processes/programs for large organizations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 5-8 years of SAS programming experience with emphasis on the SAS Macro language, the use of nested SAS Formats, and ODS output manipulation
- Experience working with large-scale data warehouse/ETL design
- In-depth understanding and experience using SQL and SAS Enterprise Guide, preferably in a Mainframe UNIX environment
- Proficient at UNIX command line processing
- Skills in analytical methods including problem and model formulation, algorithm selection, and development of overall solution strategy.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts, both verbally and in writing.
- Prior experience with health care financial reporting
- Creativity, critical thinking, and excellent problem-solving skills
Top 3 preferred skills:
- Expert level SAS programming skills with a emphasize on SAS Macro language and the use of nested SAS Formats, particular emphasis on ODS output manipulation
- In-depth understanding and experience with using SQL Developer, SAS Enterprise Guide
