Responsibilities
Plan, estimate, develop, and deploy updates and new site functionalityWrite exemplary, well-tested codeSupport site operations and respond to performance issuesWork on bugs reported by our users and team members to ensure our user experience is of high qualityDevelop new features in collaboration with our design, marketing, and product teamsCommunicate clearly and effectively using Slack and email so we’re all on the same page
Requirements
Passionate about web technologies2-3+ years web development experience using Python, Ajax, jQuery, Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS3Strong MySQL skills including query optimizationExperience working in an agile environment and continuous integrationComfortable in Linux environmentsExperience with Amazon Web ServicesExperience with Apache SolrExperience building and consuming RESTful web servicesExperience using versions of control software like Git or SVNCaching, scaling, and front-to-back performance best practicesB.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related fieldExcellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable Skills
Building and maintaining Content Management Systems (CMS)Bonus points if you have experience with mobile development for iOS and/or AndroidData Driven Product Development using experimentation, A/B, and multivariate testingMonitoring performance diagnostics to troubleshoot production systemsExperience with Nginx, Celery, Memcached is a plusExperience with NoSQL like MongoDB is a plus
