Are you an adaptable individual with the right dev skills to help us deliver innovative services for people with multiple sclerosis?

Shift.ms is a small charity that acts more like a start-up, delivering digital-first services that empower and support people with MS (MSers) to get informed, self-manage and get on with their lives.

We are looking for developer to join our in-house design and development team. You would be based at our London studio, based out of Makerversity, one of the most vibrant design, making and ‘Tech for Good’ hubs in London.

We are currently delivering two major projects funded by the Wellcome Trust and Nominet Trust, you would be working alongside our front-end developer and CTO, in a fast paced and highly motivated team. If you share our enthusiasm for the potential of digital tools in health communities, especially involving service users in design and delivery, then we want to hear from you.

Skills Required:
– 4+ years WordPress and PHP experience
– Advanced proficiency with modern PHP & MySQL development, including object oriented PHP.
– Experience with custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch and can show us examples within your GitHub/Bitbucket account.
– Development expertise with custom post types, custom fields, plug-ins, theme development, and WordPress database structure knowledge.
– Knowledge of best practice for WordPress architecture including version control, deployment, server configuration, and caching.
– Experience transferring data through endpoints using APIs.
– Experience with tools like Grunt and Gulp.
– Adept with JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, JSON, HTML, and CSS.
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
– Flexibility regarding changing priorities and the ability to meet deadlines.
– Advocate for adhering to standards, style guides.
– Experience and knowledge of BuddyPress.

– 9 month position
– Starting ASAP
– Salary £35,000-37,000k depending on experience
– minimum of 4 years experience as a WordPress / PHP developer
– The position is based out of the Shift.ms London office at Makerserity, Somerset House, London.
